what have you learnt from your audience feedback.
The main ways in which i gathered audience feedback was showing people my film trailer and noting down their comments. I also used a lot of social media for this, for example posting images of my website and poster to facebook and twitter and asking for family and friends opinions. This was very beneficial as this covered a very large range of ages, genders and styles.
The target audience for the film is young adults, and i feel that this age range gave the most controversial feedback. this is because of, for example with the poster, different eyes. i had a big problem with the poster as i used two different models and created two, this then made it very difficult to chose between the two which were only slightly different. by posting the two to facebook it created a huge debate between the target audience. however i learnt that the audience will always be drawn to the more professional looking. there were many comments on how poster one had the best colour scheme and text, however poster two looked much more professional.
Audience feedback from my trailer taught me a lot, such as how important the target audience is. after showing my trailer to a few older peers, i realised that they didn't understand the basic storyline or some of the language used. This taught me that i had met my target audience perfectly as the age range i was aiming for loved the trailer and understood it perfectly.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The Film poster I created also used a lot of conventions of real media products. When conducting my research, I found that Horror film poster's tended to be very dark with only one image standing out from the darkness. I used mirrors(2008) poster as my main influence. It has an image of a screaming girl, bold text which was the film title and the text information at the bottom. The use of the red and black colour scheme is really useful in allowing the consumer to recognise the genre, even the font of the text creates a sense of fear in the poster.

I feel that my poster has effectively created a sense of verisimilitude and used the conventions of real media products, this is due to the actress coming out of the darkness, the text, layout and colour scheme.
My website is also a good example of how I used conventions of real media products. I took great inspiration from the insidious and women in black website. I found that the key conventions of a horror website, and many film websites in general, were interaction, entertainment, information, darkness and variety. Examples of this from the insidious website is one of the games where you can use your webcam and have a crystal ball reading, the website also allows the consumer to navigate the film setting. my website is not quite as skilled, however it continues to use these conventions. for example; it has a slideshow of behind the scene images, a video of bloopers and information of the actors.

The first edit
This is my first edit of the film trailer, and after showing it to 24 members of my target audience they all noted that they really enjoyed it and how professional it seemed. The main criticism is that there is too much 'silent talking' for it to be a trailer. Therefore, i am going to put some music over the conversation as i cannot edit it out as the trailer would not make sense. i may also try to cut down the conversation so that it does not seem so long winded.

Film poster audience feedback.
After making my two film poster i found it difficult to chose between the two, i also felt that they were not fully complete. therefore; i put this image on social networking sites and got 50 votes and comments in total.
The votes came to a close and the most popular poster was number 1, however i did get some critique and opinions. One was to remove the nose ring of the girl, another was to make her more pale, to remove from of the black in her eyes, and finally to increase to white writing at the bottom.

poster image mock up.
Before
After
This small shoot was to discover the best techniques to get my desired image for my film poster. in the studio, i set up a tall light which shined down onto the model. Also i had the flash level separate from the model lights which helped with the fading effect which the light creates on camera.
However i do think that this shot is at too much of an angle, because the pole from the light obstructed me from getting a direct shot. For the real shoot, i will correct this and move the pole.
storyboard
In this first section of the trailer, it will begin with the girls at the school location, starting with a low angle behind shot of the girls walking away. Then the girls cut to the mid position and then filmed walking in the same direction but a low angle from the front. A long panning shot will then show then walking down a lane and into the fields, with mid shots cutting in to show the girls talking and laughing.
In this section, there will be a selection of close ups then an extreme long show to establish the bridge settting. cuts from shot reverse shots to kathy of the computer.
